Undulation

Exhibition
CONCEPT

UNDULATION is an homage the many sea creatures who use similar wave forms to propagate themselves, as well as seeweed formations.
Technically, it was inspired by the American goldsmith Michael Good, who pioneered the anticlastic sheet metal process.

PROCESS

Thinking aluminium is relatively soft, this form is made from 16 separate panels of 6-8mm marine grade aluminium.
This turned out to be very tough, just for a few % of Magnesium, but structually required for the cantilever.

DETAILS

Originally created for Sculpture by the Sea at Bondi in 2015, Undulation subsequently travelled to Sculpture by the Sea in WA.
