Spiral Moebius is an iteration of Moebius designs that I had explored as part of my research into anticlastic forming. The spiraling edge curve related to the Fibonacci series that featured in the landscaping and architecture of the new building.
Hammer formed from stainless steel and mirror polished. It was my first attempt of working in stainless steel and I used a friend’s raku kiln to anneal the metal.
Spiral Moebius was commissioned in 2007 by ‘THE MAKING‘ for the Maths & ICT Garden at the Everest Community College in Basingstoke, UK.
Dimensions: 1.2 x 1.2 x 0.5 m
